    Title:  Website description and Upload Instructions.

    Photo

    Proposed RSSM website

    Description and Upload/Edit Instructions

    Description:

    The website is  ‘member maintained’, that is to say, RSSM Officers update their material to their respective sections and ordinary Members upload slide shows and other materials to appropriate sections of the website.

    Some examples are: The President has a ‘President’s page’; The Librarian has a Library Section; and ordinary Members have Suggestions and Comments Section. There are many sections ( e.g. News ) to which relevant material can be added.

    The purpose of the website is:-

    1.    To provide a service to RSSM members via

    (i)                announcements of various kinds, e.g. committee agenda and minutes;

    (ii)              Library book list with descriptions; and, check out selected book via email;

    (iii)            communications between members and the Board via email, and, posted notices on the website;

    (iv)            an  archive for Newsletters  and material presented by Speakers at General Meetings.

    2.    To attract new members by providing views of RSSM activities and the facilities afforded to Members. This aspect is very desirable because the cost of the ISP is equivalent to about 15 new members per year.

    There are three levels of security, applied for example:-

    1.    Any Prospective new members and all visitors can view all sections within Activities,  Events, Library, Slides, Videos and Join Us.

    2.    Only RSSM members can view the sections within  President, Business, Members, News, as well as (1) above.

    3.    Only RSSM Officers can upload and Edit their own contributions to their own Sections.

         Ordinary members can edit their own uploads only.

    Please examine the actual sections within each Menu item so that you can comment where login should be applied.

    The Board will delete very old or inappropriate material and maintain copyright authorization as appropriate.

    Upload/Edit Instructions

    1.  Click on the New icon to add a new item.  You may have to scroll down to see icons.

    2.   You then you reach an empty form which you need to complete.

    3.   For this form you need to enter the just two elements:-

    (i)             Optional,  yourPicture.jpg. This needs to be prepared beforehand to be no more than 600px by 450px and less than 200kB file size.

    You browse to the file name and click upload .

    Most entries look better if there is an accompanying illustration.

               (ii)        A Title for your entry.

     (iii)        Your content; this goes into the “Word-like ”area and  can be quite lengthy if you wish and can be formatted similar to Word docs. Do not paste from another program (eg Word) because of the likelyhood of introducing formatting characters which the database may reject.   Click on Insert when you are done, (or Cancel to discard).

      If you want to paste from Word, save your word doc as htm  and copy and paste  that into here

    You will then see your entry.

         4. Click on the Edit icon to make changes   or Delete.

          5. Click on Update when you are done with editing or Cancel to discard changes.

    Do not omit UPDATE this is a crucial and essential step!

    I am setting up Slide Show facilities as an optional entertainment feature. However I need some appropriate slide shows!!!!!

    The slides may need preparations so that they cycle through the show automatically unattended.

    Would any RSSM member who wishes to exhibit their artistic work get the jpg's or ppt's to me with a CD of any music or audio they wish to have accompany their picture show....audio makes a big improvement!

    Look at the test slideshows in the Slides and Videos Sections
